YouKnowIGotSoul: Two other projects you’re currently involved with are Missy Elliott’s next album and “Shock Value 3″. What can you tell me about the Missy album?

JH: Really, we don’t know yet. *Laughs* Missy is so secretive. I mean even when we do tracks for her, she kicks us out of the room when she starts recording the vocals. She doesn’t even want us around, just like a woman *Laughs*. We had a meeting in New York last week with Atlantic and played a lot of the tracks that we worked on, not only ours but some other producers, and they were more than pleased. Now we’re just to the point where we’re picking and choosing which tracks she wants to put on the LP. We’re just weeding and seeding now. Once we pick those tracks, then we start the process of programming it and putting it all together. We’re going to go in and touch up on things and making everything make sense. If there are some tracks that she wants to be redo vocally, that happens during that process. During the mixing and overdub process. Right now she has tons of tracks that all have great potential to be on her next album. This album is very important for her and we approach it as such. We want to make sure that we pick the right ones that will give Missy her old audience that same feeling when she first started out in the 90′s and also introduce her to a new audience because this is a couple of generations later. You have a different listening audience. She’s been involved with some projects here lately with other artists that kind of keep her out there and voice out there, now she has a totally different listening audience. We have to approach it as such. I predict this album is going to be stupid, trust me. Missy is going to give her that energy that she’s been having. She hasn’t changed and she’s still Missy. When you see her, it’s like “Damn Missy you never change!” She doesn’t. She stays youthful, energetic and creative. And the girl can produce and if you put her in front of pro-tools, she can run that as well. Don’t sleep on her, she knows what she’s doing!

Thanks to J.Cole Nation, we have a quote from YRB's cover story with J.Cole.

In the meantime, fans don’t have to worry about Cole entirely going into hibernation. He’s already filmed a video for “Nobody’s Perfect” with Missy Elliott, which he plans to release at the top of the year.

Please note that I believe it is a result of a journalist mix-up that the article states the video as already been shot. While it has been reported that it was set to shoot this month, we have confirmed that it has not been shot as of yet.

Fast forward a month after his album release, his first single "Work Out" has started to catch on, now hovering outside the top 10 of Urban Radio. His second single, "Can't Get Enough" featuring Trey Songz, is just starting to pick up spins as well.

Where does that leave his next single? He confirms in the interview below that "Nobody's Perfect" featuring Missy Elliott will be his next single. However, knowing that his first two singles are still increasing, I'm guessing the Missy song will not be released in the immediate future.

Missy's album is going to have rapping and singing on it, like her albums usually do, but the surprising news is... Missy has all the tracks with rapping on it finished! She currently only has one track with singing on it, and she's going to add 2 more. So once Tim and her get those 2 songs done, "Block Party" will finally be COMPLETE

Missy says they went left with the records, they didn't conform to all the other sounds on the radio; no autotune, just good ol' fashioned Tim and Missy! Crazy tracks like "The Rain", not just dancing records. Is anyone else as excited as we are!? Worth The Wait

Last night there was a listening party for Missy Elliott's "Block Party", and the record label was present! Tim tweeted "dope listenin thing for missy album...d from her label kept rewindin joints haha". There was a meeting held after the party and according to Missy things went GREAT

Missy and Timbaland said they wanted to bring back that 90's sound with a futuristic twist, and the label loved it! There are many potential singles and they said Missy sounds refreshed with "arrogant" records! We are definitely one step closer to getting new music!

They're planning to drop their singles at around the same time, but they probably won't release them this year, as they don't want to "get lost in the holiday traffic", but I say...

Timbaland and Missy Elliott have headed up to Virginia, presumably to the Thomas Crown Studio, in order to finish up Missy's album. It appears the single will likely be chosen once they finish the mixing process.

Missy has said she has 10 "straight bangers" and hasn't made a commitment to any song for the first single.

If everything goes according to plan, we'll have a lot to talk about this fall.

By now we have all heard about the tragic death of singer Amy Winehouse. Below, Missy Elliott in 2008 discusses seeing Amy Winehouse and how she wanted to work with her.

Hopefully I'll get to work with Amy [Winehouse). I had a chance to meet Amy when she wasn't even out in the States. I don't even think she had a deal yet. She performed overseas, and I was like, "Who is this girl?" And me and Tim[baland) went up to her and told her, "Yo, you hot." Immediately when I saw her, I was like, "She gon'blow." It was something different. Something refreshing. So it didn't surprise me that she's as big as she is.

She wasn't giving you flash or a sequins gown or nothing. She was just giving you raw and uncut - "Yo, take me as I am. I just came from the crib. Somebody just called me up to come sing." And her content, even though it was far out, there was so many people that could relate to what she was singing because it was just raw - it was coming from a real place and her vocals were out of control. It was a rock feel, but she had a southern twang to it. She stood out. And it wasn't because she had on some name brand ho outfit that had a bunch of gleaming diamonds on it. It was just her. That was the thing that made me and Tim be like, "She's dope, and she can sing, and she's giving you raw, uncut lyrics."

There was some confusion to why Monica only had three stations to add her single this past week and we’ve got to the bottom of it. When the label had to make changes to the single because of the Lil Kim situation, they pushed to the add date back so that they can ship new copies of the single out! Official add date for the single was moved to August 8th!

Although the official add date was moved back, our girl still is still getting mad love and is currently #40 at Urban Radio gaining 220 spins bringing her total to 427 spins this week. She is currently 3.354 in audience. The single is growing rapidly and we’re expecting another nice jump on Billboard next week! Keep requesting!

BET: Missy's Next Album "On Some Next Level Craziness"

BET reports what we already know:

Missy Elliott is ready to get back in the game. The femcee, who hasn’t put out an album in six years, is putting the finishing touches on her upcoming Block Party album, and a source tells BET.com that the album will be “like she never left."

“Timbaland is producing all of it, and it’s on some next level craziness,” says the source. Block Party is tentatively scheduled for a fourth quarter release, though it has been pushed back a couple times.

In an exclusive interview with BET.com, Timbaland spoke about working with Missy on her project. “This is the first time me and Missy both doing an album at the same time,” Tim said. “There’s nothing like doing it with my sister. We’re comparing notes.”

Missy has stated in previous interviews that there’s a chemistry between she and Tim “that will never leave.” According to the source, Missy is poised to make a serious comeback. “From the sounds of the album, Nicki Minaj is gonna wish she had Timbaland making her records."

A beautiful display of sisterhood has come of what is a very unfortunate situation.

You may have heard there was a bit of controversy yesterday regarding Monica's "Anything (To Find You)" on Billboard.

The track now only features Rick Ross, causing 'Lil Kim's short verse to be removed from the official version.

Why? Notorious B.I.G.'s mother has decided she wouldn't clear the song's sample (Biggie's "Who Shot Ya") without Kim's removal. While this didn't stop any approval of "Let it Go" two years ago, it seems as if Ms. Wallace has willingly damaged a tribute to her late son.
